Scouting for a Troop Fair


WHO:          4th and 5th grade Webelos Scouts

                    Troops, Crews and Ships from the Klein ISD area         


WHAT:        An opportunity for 4th and 5th grade Webelos to see what units are out there for them to transition into

                    An opportunity for Troops, Crews and Ships to show off and gain the interest of Webelos Scouts


WHERE:       Spring Creek Park


WHEN:        Saturday, May 19, 2011 9:00am

                    Set up beginning at 8:00am


WHY:           Start the process of finding your new unit!

                     Recruiting, Recruiting, RECRUITING!!!

                    See old friends and make new friends!

                    Get EXCITED about Scouts!

Work on Webelos and Arrow of Light requirements and prepare for earning your Scout Badge and Tenderfoot Rank!


                     Repeat the following from memory and explain each your own words. Tell how you have practiced them in your everyday life.

                                        Scout Oath or Promise

                                        12 points of the Scout Law

                     Give and explain the…

                                        Scout Motto

                                        Scout Slogan

                                        Scout Sign

                                        Scout Salute

                                        Scout Handshake

                     Understand the significance of the First Class Scout badge. Describe its parts and tell what each stands for.

                     Tell how a Boy Scout uniform is different from a Webelos Scout uniform.

                     Tie the joining knot (square knot).



Scout Joining Requirements:

                    Meet age requirements. Be a boy who has completed the fifth grade or is 11 years old, or has earned the Arrow of Light Award but is under 18 years old.

                    Complete a Boy Scout application and health history signed by your parent or guardian.

                    Find a Scout troop near your home.

                    Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance.

                    Demonstrate the Scout sign, salute, and handshake.  

                    Demonstrate tying the square knot (a joining knot).  

                    Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath, Law, motto, and slogan, and the Outdoor Code.

                    Describe the Scout badge.

                    Complete the pamphlet exercises. With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide.

                    Participate in a Scoutmaster conference. Turn in your Boy Scout application and health history form signed by your parent or guardian, then participate in a Scoutmaster conference.
